Collection: Georges Washington

Georges Washington (1827–1910) was a French artist renowned for his contributions to the Orientalist movement. He studied under François Picot and initially focused on history painting and equestrian scenes. Washington was known for his ability to blend dynamic action with serene backgrounds, resulting in highly harmonious compositions. His works often depicted the grandeur and mystique of the East, highlighting subjects such as nomadic horsemen, desert landscapes, and exotic cultural rituals, embodying the fascination many European artists had with the Orient during the 19th century.
