Vendome Jewelry History – Luxury, Elegance & Vintage Glamour

Vendome was introduced in 1944 as an upscale division of Coro, one of America’s largest costume jewelry manufacturers. While Coro focused on mass-market designs, Vendome aimed to capture the high-fashion aesthetic of European jewelry houses, producing sophisticated, well-crafted pieces that exuded refinement and luxury.

Named after the famous Place Vendôme in Paris—a hub of haute couture and fine jewelry—Vendome jewelry featured intricate metalwork, high-quality rhinestones, and elaborate beaded designs. The brand became especially known for its avant-garde compositions, often incorporating crystal, faceted glass, and faux pearls to create pieces that were as elegant as they were bold.

Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Vendome was at the forefront of costume jewelry trends, favored by fashionable women who sought accessories that blended opulence with artistic expression. The brand was particularly known for its collaboration with designer Helen Marion, whose innovative use of materials helped shape Vendome’s signature aesthetic.

Though Coro ceased operations in the late 1970s, Vendome’s legacy endures. Today, collectors and vintage enthusiasts continue to seek out these masterfully crafted pieces, recognizing their quality, artistry, and timeless allure.
