About the Artist
Charles Lees
Throughout his career, Lees maintained a studio in Edinburgh and contributed significantly to the Royal Scottish Academy, where he also served as Treasurer. He passed away in Edinburgh on 20 February 1880 and was laid to rest in Warriston Cemetery. Today, his works are celebrated for their historical significance and artistic excellence, offering insight into the sporting and social life of 19th-century Scotland.
